Introducing The Braintree Farah Bamboo Maxi Skirt

So here it is, the Farah bamboo maxi skirt, its one of Braintree’s top rated pieces. It’s a beautiful blue colour and its made of bamboo….which is a good temperature regulator and proven to keep you cool on hot summer days! Braintree says:

‘Our bamboo maxi skirt features an easy fold over soft-top waistband and slight gathers designed to fall gently through the hips to the ankles. Crafted in our generous breathable bamboo spandex.’

I’ve mentioned those roll over soft top waistbands before, they’re very comfortable. I went into AIRR Clothing today to see what it was like in real life. Heres how easy it is to wear this skirt, and great if you want to feel ok in the heat but without exposing a lot of skin. It’s a flattering cut, falling at all the right places.. I thought initially that the maxi skirt would feel too much for me, being quite short, possible trip hazard etcetera, but by the end of the morning i had fallen in love with it.

Here’s where the skirt came to on me, I’m 5ft 3. Skimming my ankles here, however the waistband means you can control the length, long or shorter depending on the look you are going for! here with the Maison Scotch over sized t-shirt, tucked in, to create a nice silhouette, (on me baggy with baggy isn’t such a good look) and my old sandals.

I do love this kind of waist band, a lot of Braintree items have it at the moment. Here I wore the skirt quite high.  You’ll see what I mean about all the different ways to wear this skirt if you go and try it on. Once you find the way you feel most comfortable in it you’ll be able to see which tops go with it best. But here’s what I found…

The skirt can be worn as a strapless dress, im sure on other people this would look great but if you’re not quite brave enough, like me, a light cardigan can work wonders with confidence! Here I’m wearing the Jenika Hemp cardigan in orange, they do it in lilac too, which would also go with the skirt/dress in this case! imageimage With the roll top waist band rolled down and wearing it low on the hips this Maison Scotch printed top in red with its navy blue detail went well with the skirt, this look could be worn to work.

However my favourite way to wear this skirt is to just absolutely go with it being bold and blue, by wearing it with different shades of blue! On the left im wearing the Braintree Thea organic cotton T-shirt. This top is great, Ido love a nice batwing top. I feel a maxi skirt always looks good with the batwing shape too. If you want the same sort of batwinged look but with a short sleeves,  the top on the right, Skunk Funk’s Oban top looks fantastic, it has a gathered hem, which compliments the roll top waist of the skirt creating a flattering silhouette.

This skirt is a good addition to a summer wardrobe I feel because of all the different ways you can wear it. Effortlessly classy and can most definitely be dressed up or down. Plus you feel good wearing it because it is made of sustainable bamboo and organic cotton! What is there not to like!? The skirt is available online at

Or if you want to try it on first go find it in the shop! You’ll no doubt find some other tops that would go with it if you have a look round, the women in the shop are always good to help out if you need it too.
