Its not every day, or even very often that one item of clothing gets a blog post dedicated solely to it. But this is that day! I just need the opportunity to wax lyrical about the Madeline dress because it is that special!
The style of it is just so effortless and gorgeous. Its difficult to describe why I love it so much, but I think it has something to do with the cut? The areas of my body that (although I try and love all my body as much of the time as I can) I am not so confident about are my lower tummy, and my hips (which sit above a really quite flat bum!). This dress though not particularly tailored in those areas, doesn’t cover these areas with any loose or drapey bits, but yet it seems to hang off the body or sit in a way that covers them and I feel unexposed and very comfortable.
The other thing about this dress is its versatility, I can wear it to a private view at an art gallery, work, at the weekend, party’s or on an evening out. I love teaming it up with trainers, TOMS and sandals, I love putting patterned cardigans with it, or a patterned scarf. It looks great with practically any earring on the planet, and it looks great with all handbags. In short this dress goes with anything there isn’t a way to pick something wrong!
I am at this point considering buying a second in case anything ever happens to this one I love it so much!
If I can try to be objective about it for a minute (very difficult) I would say that its a bit long if you are a shorter person like me, but, of corse, its well worth having anyway and altering as I did. The shape of it, its long lines, are very slimming and elongating, so its actually a perfect choice for someone who is a little bit vertically challenged!
Also the slit up the leg is quite high, but this can be stitched a little bit, and the dress looks great with leggings underneath or an EKO type vest underneath it, which I tend to wear anyway as I am as they say in Derbyshire “a bit nesh” (which means I get cold easily!). Its a great dress for layering in general, and in the winter, it looks great with a pair of knee high or cowboy like boots.
So now I have, I hope, explained why it is my most favourite dress and worth every penny, I should mention that of course, as with all AIRR products it is produced in a socially responsible way. Made by one of the leading, trail blazing, fair trade clothing companies out there- People Tree. That means everything is assured; quality of fabric, fair wages, working conditions, chemical free farming, organic standards, no harm to the environment and total, total confidence that this dress has never cost anyone more than it should, in fact its quite the opposite, its benefited lives and had a ripple effect in families, and communities. So it is a 100% guilt free purchase, its a purchase I hope you will make and feel as good as I do about it!!
